Mod Entertainment Room
This space used to be a Batman-themed kid's playroom, no seriously, I am talking a whole Gotham scene on the walls, pretty impressive work but it was time for a change.
Kid's spaces can be challenging for homeowners to design as their needs rapidly change. One day it's Batman and Hot Wheels and the next they're off to college. This client and her family hadn't quite reached door room transition yet but it was clear they had out grown a playroom. Wanting to make the most of this extra room in their home, our client wanted a design that served the needs of multiple functions for multiple generations.
To set the mood, think loungy/library, a deep blue/green paint was selected for the space, a brighter focal wall in snowbound, a warm-white was chosen to help brighten the space and bring depth to the room. For this, we designed a space that was as flexible as it was comfortable. A mod streamline sofa was selected to allow for cozy seating for both adults or when their son had guests over. Using a performance fabric allows guests to relax knowing that cleaning is a breeze. Nesting tables allow for a transitional space easily convertible for whatever the moment calls for. Multiple lighting options set the mood, low light for conversations, movie nights, or reading, a ceiling fan with dome light allows for a brighter setting for game nights.
Lush velvet curtains in a deep rust adorn the window, providing near blackout for daytime movie watching. The star of the space, a wood panel wall with a floating shelf complete with storage to increase functionality.
