Thoughtful Living

My client woke up and decided they’d had enough with the ugly, their words not mine, builders basic, inappropriately scaled wreck of a fireplace. This home has just one family/living room. When it comes to entertaining, hosting, gatherings, or just kicking back to watch TV, it was happening in this room. After dealing with the eye soar of the fireplace the builders forced the homeowners to put in for years, my client reached out to me to see if anything could be done.

When a client expressed great annoyance with their living room, I knew our team could help. The space is the heart of their home, where they created memories with their grandchildren, recounted memories with their 2 adult children, and gathered with friends. When not entertaining guests, the couple used the space for enjoying sporting events and getting cozy on the couch.

The clients main priority, updating the fire place from a bleak, forgotten, eyesore to something the was worthy of being the focal point in the space. For this we used a large scale, wood look stone tile. Use af a fire resistant material also allowed us to design a clean modern fireplace by allowing the material to be placed in line with inset. eliminating the need for use of a trim kit leaving a clean finish. A custom mantel was designed to wrap around the face providing an anchor for the eye and breaking up the expansive was giving visual interest. Although the room had many windows, it did not get much natural light. The aid in brighting the space, we selected a tile mimicking bleached beach wood, cream at its base with subtle warn veining to bring depth. he client was keen on maximizing seating. Keeping the current insert and updating from wood burring to use of gas logs saved the client both money and rid them of the hassle of burning real wood.

Ample seating was another must. Frequently hosting gathering with friends the client needed as much seating as possible. To accomplish this goal we selected a set of full-length sofas in an off white, high performance fabric easy to clean. The contrast in the sofas pulled the lighter tomes from the stone used in the fireplace while providing a contrast to the dark wood floor furthering use of materials and colors to help wit the lack of natural light. A set of leather recliners is a vintage caramel leather bring richness and contract to the space. that swivel, anchor the room giving the owners chic yet functional seating.
